Recent interviews with specific people about the food that RP serve

"Do you think RP should have more choices of food?"

We are very curious about the students' individual comments regarding on Republic Polytechnic's food. It is important to know whether if the students are happy with the food in their school. 

Republic Polytechnic has many foodcourts like for example TRCC, eCanteen, Koufu, The Reel Room (Library's Cafe) and Lawn.  But what are the comments from Republic Polytechnic students? Are the food nice? Is the food worth queuing for?

 As we can see from the interviews, there are more positive comments on the food in Republic Polytechnic however there are also negative comments. We have found out that the most popular stall is Ayam penyet stall located at the lawn.  The most problem that many people are arguing about is basically of the unfair amount of stalls for Malay and indian students.

Here are the interviews:

1)  Do you think RP should have more choices of food? Why do you think that way?

Kanaga : They have a lot of to do here and there are different stalls as there are 3 canteens. There are a huge variety of food.  Because I tried many different food in different canteens and the choices of food are not a problem

Justin :I think that RP already has a huge variety of food and I feel that there are many type of food like for Malay's are only for HALAL food and there are many same stall and maybe we can choose different variety of stalls. There is evidence a lot of stalls in RP and hence there is a lot of variety.

Hasan: I think there should be more choices of halal food and it isn't fair as there is not a lot of Muslim students and there is only 3 stalls for Malay's stores.

Groups that are range of 17-19 years old:
Yes. Fast food, the usual, the most important thing is that they should have more Halal food.

TJ :Yes. RP do not have Mac, sakae sushi.

2) What are the food that you wish RP has?

      Kanaga :More Indian food because you very shy to queue at lawn and prefer to have Indian stall as my auntie can maybe open a stall here.

     Justin : I guess that the food that I wish there is fast food, but I prefer walking a long distance can help me lose weight and get the food I want.

     Hasan:Toast box, MacDonald’s, halal food stores

     Groups that are range of 17-19 years old:
Fast food, all the cheap fast food and Ramly burger, more choices of wraps, healthy salads,
yong tau fu store and the food are horrible like the ban mian store. 

     TJ: Macdonald, Sakae sushi, pizza hut, burger king, Astons.

     3) What do you think about the food In RP?

     Kanaga :It’s very nice, it’s very tasty and sometimes before I am an Rp student, I even came here to eat.

     Justin:It is quite tasty, good flavour, but the chicken rice stall has certain hygiene issues and the way they prepare food is a bit worrying. The chicken they put in tubs of cold water and they are murky. They take the food from a tank of water and serve the students.

     Hasan: Its ok I guess... We just need more halal food that’s all.

     Groups that are range of 17-19 years old:
Nothing great about it. The lawn and E canteen is nice but the north canteen and koufu      isn't nice at all. RP isn't really very nice, not quality quality food but it isn’t really that nice.

      TJ :Good: the food are cheap

Bad: the food isn't good.

They should offer better food even though the cost is high.

4) What is the most popular stall that you think is the best.

      Kanaga: I think that it is the western food as it taste so different and it is really very nice and can differentiate the taste such as the use of tomato sauce and the things inside.

      Justin:I think it is the western food in E canteen and there is a PLOUGH that shows that it is highly recommended by many people as it was showcased from E canteen and it is affordable and the flavour is there and the taste is there.

Hasan: Their nasi ayam penyet in lawn.

      Groups that are range of 17-19 years old::
Ayam penyet in lawn and the chicken wrap in TRCC, black pepper chicken rice E canteen and the dells kitchen.

TJ :I think that the pineapple fried rice in lawn and the ayam penyet is better and the waffle is nice at North Canteen. I think that all long queue means they are nice.

            5) Comparing RP and other poly, do you think that the food served in Rp is better than the rest.

      Kanaga :I cannot say anything because we didn't really taste but I tried NP food and I feel that Rp food is still the best.

      Justin:Yes I went to SP to eat the western food as it is cheaper but after it and the RP food, I do not think there is any different, and cost is the same as well. But there is not really much of a difference.

      Hasan :Tp. It’s almost the same but in TP there is this place where there is all HALAL store and it is must fair for the Muslim students.

      Groups that are range of 17-19 years old::
Tp is much better than RP as it offers a lot of variety of food and I think that they are offering more than RP.

      TJ: No but I can assume that other Poly is much better and that RP doesn't have any fast food restaurant and the subway isn't even Halal.

So far, I have asked the interviewers and so far the conclusion that we made is that there is insufficient stalls for Malay and Indian food and they felt that RP is not treating them fairly a that would cause a long queue which will affect their time management and thus, wasting alot of time for them. they also want to have more fast food in RP and making sure that there is sufficient food for every student and this can help to reduce queue time and they can have a proper and fast lunch or breakfast.
